Scout Troopers are cool! Lets face it they look mean and as if they could go toe to toe with any scum of the galaxy and come out on top.
Sure they often have a habit of hitting trees on speeder bikes, or getting eaten by cute cannibalistic teddy bears, but whats not to love! The two scout troopers on their speeder bikes in the core set are what sold me on Legion in the first place (even though I play Rebels) and finally they are getting a full squad of their own to bolster your imperial forces!
“Your friends, up there on the sancutary moon, are walking into a trap.”
–Emperor Palpatine, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
The conflicts of the Galactic Civil War rage across innumerable planets, each with their own unique terrain that could impact the battles that are fought there. If the Empire wants to conquer these planets, it needs specialised soldiers who can go in first and lead the way for the rest of its troops. Fortunately, the Empire’s elite have arrived.
Diversify your army with some special forces troopers and clear a path for the rest of your Imperial army!
Hand-picked from the best troops the Empire has to offer, Scout Troopers are prepared to take on the toughest missions, including advanced reconnaissance and infiltration. Now, you can add these elite troops to your Imperial ranks with the Scout Troopers Unit Expansion. This expansion features seven unpainted, easily assembled Scout Trooper miniatures, along with all the cards and tokens you need to add these versatile troops to your army.
At 60 points for a standard four-miniature unit, the Scout Troopers have the skills to support their corps counterparts. Their EC-17 Hold-out Blasters contribute two black dice to an attack, making them brutally effective at close range, and their Low Profile and Scout 1 keywords ensure that they can move in close enough to launch an attack. When they do, few troops are more effective marksmen, with the Sharpshooter 1 ability mitigating the benefits of any cover their targets might cower behind.
But the Scout Troopers are capable of much more than leading the way for other infantry. Adding heavy weapons miniatures makes them even more versatile and perfect for tackling a variety of tasks. Adding a DLT-19x Sniperminiature to your squad suddenly makes your Scout Troopers lethal from anywhere on the board. Opponents rarely suspect attacks from such great distance and, if your sniper is the only one firing at a target, it shoots with such High Velocity that the defender cannot hope to dodge out of the way.
Meanwhile, if you’d like to use your Scout Troopers at extremely close range, you can add a Sonic Charge Saboteurto your squad to disrupt enemy operations. One of these explosives experts can seed the field with Sonic Charges, blocking your opponent’s path to critical objectives or breaking up their lines of fire.
While you can field these heavy weapons miniatures as part of a full squad of Scout Troopers, their unique abilities tend to make them even more effective in smaller groups. Luckily, the Scout Troopers can also be deployed as two-miniature strike teams. For just 16 points plus the cost of a heavy weapons miniature, you can field a powerful strike team that offers an inexpensive alternative to a full squad of Scout Troopers!
