In the Grim Darkness of the Far Future there can be only Cartoons?

It’s been rumoured for many years and been a pipe dream for many a budding film maker, but finally Games Workshop have announced an animated series based on its very popular Warhammer 40,000 game!

This is not the first foray into animation for the company, having released an ill fated 2013 Ultramarines movie which despite an amazingly strong cast did not do well with both fans and critics alike.

It’s well known that Games Workshop have wanted to diversify their portfolio in recent years and with the recent addition of lines of books aimed at younger readers and products like Space Marine Heroes, this is just a logical step that needs to be followed.

Titled Angels of Death the series will follow the exploits of a group of Blood Angels as they serve the Emperors will and face off against whatever comes their way.  With they guys who animated the fan film Helsreach now working on the project and being overseen by Games Workshop, it looks like this is going to be one to watch out for.

Angels of Death is due out in 2019 and will be the first of a series of animated adventures!

Given the amazing cut scenes in games such as Dawn of War III, the level of animation these days can be astounding and hopefully this will be a great new venture for Games Workshop!

So what would you like to see given the animated treatment?  I personally feel that Space Marines are far to over powered to warrant a show and I think that Imperial Guard or Inquisition would be better suited!  Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

With kids books, animation on the way, its only a matter of time till someone manages to get the rights to produce 40K toys and action figures to tie in with the show which would be pretty awesome as the only action figures so far have been pretty static!

More news as we get it!
