Back for more Punishment! Punisher Season 2 Trailer

Its been a pretty decent year to date for Marvel in many senses.  Black Panther and Infinity War both break box office records and are well on the way to grossing over 4 billion dollars right now.  Antman and the Wasp was really well received, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D was renewed for two more seasons.

Sadly it was also a very bad year with the loss of Steve Ditko co-creator of Spider-Man in June and the passing of the legendary Stan Lee, creator of more of the Marvel mythos than any other person and one of the most loved people on the planet, who died in November!

Another blow came when Netflix announced the cancellation of Iron Fist, then Luke Cage and finally Daredevil from the giant streaming service, despite really good reception for Daredevil.  Marvel and Netflix both remained pretty vague on the subject but it looks likely that the they will all continue in some way or other on the Disney + streaming service at some point in the future.

This leaves only Jessica Jones and The Punisher left from the Marvel cannon on Netflix and Netflix have just released the trailer for the second season of The Punisher!

Starring Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle an ex-solider whose family is tragically murdered forcing him to adopt the mantle of The Punisher, a one man army who goes all out to bring a very nasty end to those who killed his family!  Since his introduction in the second season of Daredevil, the character has fast become a fan favorite, landing his own series and now about to embark on his second outing.

The series will premiere on Netflix on January 18th 2019 and will see the return of Bernthal as Castle, and the return of Ben Barnes as Billy Russo, Amber Rose Revah, as Home Land Security Special Agent in Charge Dinah Madani, and Jason R. Moore as Curtis Hoyle!

Recently it was revealed that Deborah Ann Woll would reprise her role of Karen Page from Daredevil due to her connection to Castle in the first season of The Punisher and the second season of Daredevil.  Woll is the only character from any of the canceled Marvel series so far confirmed to be in this second season.

Though the show has yet to broadcast, it looks very likely that it will be its final season and it will go the same way as the other shows in the Netflix pantheon.

So what do you think about the trailer?  Are you excited to see another season, or do you feel a bit deflated as it could be the last?  Jessica Jones is yet to appear in its third season but likely that too could be its last, are you excited to see the return of the troubled superhero?  Why not let us know in the comments section below.
