New Terrain for Star Wars Legion (Fantasy Flight Games)

If there is any game on the current miniatures market that cries out for a 3D printer it has to be Star Wars Legion from Fantasy Flight Games.

The game screams for terrain that isn’t readily available for general sale and as such many companies have sprung up and taken advantage of this gap in the market and you can now kit out a full games table and make it look like Hoth, Tattoine or even Endor, either by printing the files yourself or paying a third party to do so for you!

Of course Fantasy Flight Games is not unaware of this fact and did release a set of Moisture Vaporators and Comm Station in the excellent Prioritise Supplies Expansion (check out my unboxing of it HERE) but other than those things have been pretty thin on the ground.

Today it was announced that the company would be releasing a new terrain piece during the second quarter of the year (April onwards) that would feature a downed ATST as seen in the movies and be more or less a wreckage version of the currently available model from FFG themselves.

The model will feature a two part scenario and six new battle cards for use in the games to build a narrative, but it is the wonderful looking model that will really have people rushing to buy this product.  With an initial price point of $49.95 this may seem pretty pricey for something that really is just going to be a terrain piece, but the expansion does come with cards, two of which will help make this worth fighting over with a mini campaign of sorts.

As of yet it is unknown if this is going to be made from plastic or resin, though I would most likely think it will be plastic and require assembly.  Also I would not be surprised if a crashed T-47 Airspeeder would be on the cards for another future release.

The Downed ATST is due out soon and is on pre-order from Fantasy Flight Games right now.  Gamers Web recommends 6s2hit.com for great value and up to 25% discount on retail prices!
