A look through Judge Dredd and Worlds of 2000AD. EN Publishing

Im not a stranger to Kickstarter campaign’s, having backed a good few since the whole crowd funding phenomena began several years ago.

Some have been pretty great and have delivered the goods on time, a couple have been way ahead of schedule and dropped early.  Sadly there have been a couple of Kickstarters that I have lost money on, goods never materialising in the UK but available in the US, or waves of promised goods just simply never being made.

It’s the good ones however that do make it all worth while and a project that may never have come to see the light of day can be saved using crowd funding, giving us a great product in the process.

Sure it’s a gamble, giving over your hard earned money to someone for a product you may not see ever, but there is always that great feeling when a successful campaign you took part in drops and you finally hold the product in your hands!

Last year in late September EN Publishing launched their Kickstarter campaign to bring back one of the most loved and iconic of all British comic book characters in the form of a brand new roleplaying game. Judge Dredd and Worlds of 2000AD would be the first title and core product for a game system that would not only feature the highly popular and much loved lawman, but would also bring with it roleplaying game products based on many of the popular characters from the other strips in 2000AD’s forty odd year history!

I would have bought the product regardless of it being on Kickstarter or not, but thankfully the campaign was very successful, raised more than enough funds to cover costs, and was fully funded in NINE minutes!

During the early part of the campaign Russel Morrissey stated to backers that not only did EN Publishing plan on getting a digital copy of the game to backers by the end of the campaign itself, but the physical books would land in very early 2019, just a few short months after the Kickstarter had finished!

True to his word, just a few minutes after.the campaign had ended, backers received notification that digital copies of the game awaited them for download,.with hard copies due as early as possible in 2019!

This morning one hundred and thirty-six days since the campaign ended, my backer pledge arrived and well judge for yourself!

Russ, Darren, Andy and everyone involved with this project has done an amazing job and delivered a well written, laid out and presented book that is a pure homage too forty-two year British institution!

A full review and much more coming very soon to Gamers Web
