It’s been a long time in the making but it Avengers Endgame is only mere hours away.
The movie from the Russo brothers Joe and Anthony had its world premire last night and early reports are very good and an outstanding way to conclude a story that began over ten years and twenty two movies ago.
Early sale tickets for the movies opening night sold out at cinemas around the world within hours of going live, and it is estimated that the movie will shatter all box office records on its opening weekend.
Of course given the hype surrounding Endgame, the movie is really going to have to knock the ball right out of the park and early reports state just that.
In 2015 movie legend Steven Spielberg went on record stating that superhero movies would soon have their day.
. “We were around when the Western died and there will be a time when the superhero movie goes the way of the Western. It doesn’t mean there won’t be another occasion where the Western comes back and the superhero movie someday returns.”
Of course that was in 2015, before movies like Black Panther, Avengers Infinity War, and Captain Marvel broke all records and took over three billion dollars at the box office between them, the bubble hasn’t burst yet.
That said movies like Batman vs Superman and more recently the reboot of Hellboy may be the exception to the rule, and both were critically slammed upon their release.
By Friday all the hype will be over and we will know for ourselves if all the build up is paid off and we truly get our Endgame.
I hope to a spoiler free review on Thursday of Endgame. Until then enjoy this amazing video from the Jimmy Kimmel Show.
In the meantime “keep telling yourself it’s only a movie, only a movie, only a!”
