During the same recent Fantasy Flight Games live stream from GenCon as the Star Wars Legion announcements, a new company that is working in partnership with the company took to the stage Atomic Mass Games, with news of a brand new game.
Marvel Crisis Protocol is a superhero miniature combat game set in the Marvel universe and will feature a huge array of heroes and villains from the pages of the comics cornucopia of characters.
First demos of the game at GenCon are now starting to appear on forums and it looks very positive and the miniatures look amazing. Here is what we know so far.
The game will allow you to build your own team of characters up from a roster of up to ten characters, from there the narrative builds in much the same way as a comic book does. Characters can build up special attacks or use hidden super powers by taking or inflicting damage or other in game effects and once these are unleashed can cause pretty awesome results.
The core game will be released in the fourth quarter of this year and will feature an ensemble of characters made up from Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Ultron, Doctor Octopus, Captain Marvel, Crossbones, Baron Zemo and finally Red Skull. Each of these miniatures is made from hard plastic in much the same way as Games Workshops miniatures tend to be and needs to be assembled before play.
This will allow players to pose miniatures in dramatic ways and offer more scope for customisation. The core set will also feature some unique terrain in the form of two news vender shacks, dumpsters, street lights, and two cars, and of course rules, character cards, dice and much, much more.
The game is set to be released towards the end of 2019 and will have monthly releases thereafter which will add to your collection and increase the number of characters available. The miniatures look amazing and I hope to cover this in much more depth during the coming months.
