There are lots of Patreons around these days offering monthly bundles for 3D printing and covering everything from science fiction, fantasy to historical and beyond and as hobbyists and gamers we are spoiled for choice. One of these wonderful patreons is Kyoushuneko Miniatures which offers something for everyone, and with the upcoming release of Stargrave a wise choice to make up crews and more.
Stargrave is due for release at the end of April and is the science fiction twist on the award-winning Frostgrave and written by the same author. In the game, set in the far future, you and your crew must fight against galactic tyranny, wired aliens and other crew if you want to make a name for yourself and building the right crew is paramount to winning.
Stargrave does have its own line of miniatures, but it is mostly a miniatures free game which means that you can use more or less any miniatures, models and terrain in your collection and not need to worry about having to stick to a companies vision. As such the game screams out for 3D printing and you can’t go too far wrong with Kyoushuneko Miniatures excellent patreon and their awesome dwarf ranges.
First up are the space dwarves, filling that niche that has been left by many other companies in recent years and making an ideal crew for you to use in Stargrave (of for that matter many other games like Necromunda). Each of the elegant models comes in both supported and unsupported formats to allow you to chose which option is the best for you as some folks have their own views on supports and like to generate and place their own.
The Sky Dwarves are fantasic wee guys and printed out with no issues at all, and with loads of options to allow for a wide range of poses and some really cool dwarf heads. Though these dwarves have been designed to take to the skies in fantasy games, they would not be out of place in a space dwarf army or gang for Necromunda or as miners turned pirates in the upcoming Stargrave which is a miniatures agnostic game, allowing you to use whatever miniatures you have at hand.
The propellers and backpacks turn these models into aerial assault units that would be ideal for any Age of Sigmar dwarf player (or Duardin as they are now known) and would fit right in with the Kharadron Overlords who are already the masters of the skies in the Mortal Realms. The video below has some of my painted models, and while I am not the greatest of painters you can get a good idea of how cool they look.
The files are available right now from the links below and as well as normal ground based troopers, and an admrial there is also models posed in flight to take advantage of the flight packs they have strapped to their backs.
Coming very soon to Kyoushuneko Miniatures is an amazing set of Space Dwarves that I am dying to print out and paint up. and they have that Oldhammer look to them that we haven’t seen in a very long time. Check out the gallery below!
